SHOTS!!!!

The dreaded day arrived two weeks ago.  I had been anticipating that day ever since I found out I got accepted into BYU's Nursing Program.  I don't know if its just me, but having inexperienced girls practicing giving shots on me did not sound like my definition of enjoyment.  The first morning of, I woke up and had to watch some quick skills videos on how to administer the shots.   I literally almost fainted, and had to lie on my back in the middle of my living room to not pass out.  I knew that was not a good sign.
So at 10:30 am. I arrived at the practice nursing lab.  I got partnered up with a girl from my high school, and it went from there.  I actually had SOO much fun!  The first shot I did was a ID (Inter dermal--the one that you get for TB where it makes a bubble under your skin).  I got the needle placed, but when I let go of the skin to inject the saline solution, the needle slipped out.  My partner was a trooper fyi!  Two weeks later, we had to practice 4-6 shots on each other.  Needles don't bug me anymore, except for the shot that goes into your stomach.  That one hurts for days!!!!
My fellow lab classmates!

Me and My Classy Friends

So the Saturday before Valentines Day, I was privileged to participate in a tradition some of my cute Arizona friends started a couple years ago.

Cute hats+adorable yummy restaurant+awesome friends=TEA PARTY!

Kimberly, Chloe, and I
Strawberry, blue cheese, walnut salad...and of course a huge muffin!

So all of us strutted into Mimi's Cafe, and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon together.  After lunch, we spent a good 20 minutes taking pictures inside, and I think the hostesses were glad when we finally left!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

I LOVE YOU!
My attempt at forming a heart shape with my hands:)

Valentine Treasures

Valentine treasures are people who
have often crossed your mind,
family, friends and others, too,
who in your life have shined
the warmth of love or a spark of light
that makes you remember them;
no matter how long since you’ve actually met,
each one is a luminous gem,
who gleams and glows in your memory,
bringing special pleasures,
and that’s why this Valentine comes to you:
You’re one of those sparkling treasures!

Crying Baby/Romania/Kneaders...RANDOM!

So all the way home from campus, I was walking behind this girl pushing a stroller with two babies in it.  This is a frequent sight at BYU, except in this case these kids were screaming!  I have never heard such a cry.  It sounded like the movie trailer of Jurassic Park, and this scream continued the whole walk home.  The funny part was the reactions of the people passing by.  They would look at the stroller to see what in the world was wrong with the kid, and then they would keep on walking with the biggest smile on their face.  I think all the single people appreciated their marital status at that time!

So one of my roomies got her mission call today...to Romania.  Our entire apartment went to her house with all her relatives and watched her open the letter.  As soon as she said Romania, everyone started talking about gypsies.  I think its so funny how each area has one thing everyone feels they can talk about to correlate to a location.

I took a year and a half, but I finally made it to Kneaders.  Kneaders is one of those places in Provo that everyone says you have to go to...which I now totally agree with.  They are famous for their "All you can eat FRENCH TOAST."  As a college student I feel obligated to get my moneys worth but this was the "richest" most filling french toast I have ever tried!  So of course I googled for the recipe and this is what showed up......
Ingredients:
Kneader’s Over-Night French Toast
1 loaf Kneaders Chunky Cinnamon Bread cut in 8 slices
8 eggs
3 c. milk
1 T. brown sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 T. vanilla
2 T. butter
Preparation:
Butter a glass baking dish generously (9" x 13").  Place the bread flat in the baking dish.  Mix all remaining ingredients, reserving the butter and pour over the bread. Cut butter into pieces and dot over the top. Refrigerate over night or at least 1 hour.   Bake 45 - 50 minutes at 350 degrees.  Serves 8
Kneader's Carmel Syrup
1 c. Brown sugar
1 c. Creme
1 c. Light Karo Syrup
Blend together and heat on stovetop until sugar is smooth.
Serve warm.
So....someone should make this..cough cough...and tell me if it turns out!

Favorite Foods

When ever you meet a new person, you usually end up playing the "Favorites" game.  For example, what is your favorite kind or music?...."oh good we both don't like country music so we will get along perfectly"....etc.  However, when someone asks me what my favorite food is that is a hard thing to answer, because there are too many.  So I decided I need to make a list of some of my favorite foods, so I will be prepared when someone asks me.....

Today's top 10: (in no particular order)
1.  Kneader's French Toast (all you can eat)
2.  Cafe Rio's Sweet Pork Salad.....it being everyone else's favorite also down in Provo
3.  Jamba Juice Pumpkin Smash Smoothie, which only comes out around Halloween
4.  P.F. Chang's Chicken Lettuce Wraps
5.  BYU Creamery Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream
6.  Pita Pit Chicken pita
7.  Eggbert's Banana Pancakes
8.  My mom's Cinnamon Apple Brie with crackers
9.  Poppa John's Supreme Pizza
10.  Anything and everything from Mandarin in Bountiful, UT

--so I just realized that this entry is probably influenced by it being Fast Sunday today:)

Sperry Boat Shoes and Jimmer

Why I love these shoes:
1.  Can wear socks with them..for when it is 5 degrees outside like today
2.  Match every outfit
3.  The most padded shoes I've ever owned!
4.  They are no lace ups or velcro

So BASICALLY..the hero of BYU right now is....drum roll.....

JIMMER FREDETTE

Even though they failed us in New Mexico, Jimmer is the leading scorer in the nation.  This means BYU sports can't be the bunt of any jokes for at least a couple more months:)  To commemorate him it seems when ever someone has to throw something (ex. paper into the trash can) they say "Jimmer."  Lets just hope next year's football team has a "Jimmer Fredette"!

Countdown of how many days till we nursing students practice shots on each other:  5 days....ahhhh!
